- May 17, 2002, For its 3rd quarter ended March 30, 2002, StockDiagnostics.com issues a press release after it diagnoses Concord EFS with "The EPS Syndrome" (a negative accounting anomaly) which was discovered by our team. Enron was the impetus for our discovery of The EPS Syndrome?, a not so rare disorder afflicting 19% of all non-financial U.S. public companies. Concord EFS (CE) shares close at $32.80.
- May 31, 2002, Wall Street has 21 "buys" and no "sells" on Concord EFS. Concord's shares close @ $31.27.
- August 19, 2002, Barron's reports that Concord's management admits to using "accounting wrinkles" to puff up EPS in its latest two quarters including the same 3rd quarter that StockDiagnostics.com had diagnosed it with an accounting anomaly, "The EPS Syndrome". Concord shares eventually go to a 52 week low of $12.60 per share.
